Map choice quietly decides more matches than weapon choice does. Each map rewards a different style, and players who queue everything and wonder why their results are inconsistent are usually fighting the map rather than the enemy.
Erangel — the all-rounder
The original 8x8 battlefield with a mix of open fields, forest and dense compounds. Long rotations punish impatience, and the terrain gives patient squads plenty of hard cover.
- Best for: squad play, mid-to-long range engagements, deliberate rotations.
- Loot: uneven — some areas are rich, others are a trap.
- Tip: play the rim of the blue zone and hold compounds near the final circles.
Miramar — the long-range map
Desert terrain with enormous sightlines and very little natural cover. If your long-range aim is weak, Miramar will expose it immediately.
- Best for: DMR and sniper players, vehicle rotations.
- Loot: good, but concentrated in towns.
- Tip: carry smoke aggressively — crossing open ground without it is how squads die here.
Sanhok — the brawler’s map
The smallest classic map. Short rotations, dense foliage, constant third-party pressure. Fights are close and frequent, and matches finish quickly.
- Best for: aggressive players and anyone practising close-range mechanics.
- Loot: dense and quick to acquire.
- Tip: sound matters more than sight here. Third parties arrive from behind more often than from the front.
Vikendi — the snow map
Mid-sized with a mix of urban compounds and open snowfields where you are highly visible against the terrain. Vehicle play is strong, and the map rewards players who control towns rather than roaming.
- Best for: squad rotations and compound control.
- Tip: avoid crossing open snow against an unknown position — you are a white-background silhouette.
Livik — the fast map
A compact 2x2 map built for short matches. Everything happens quickly and the final circles are tight. It is the best map for practising rotations at speed.
- Best for: quick sessions, warm-ups, practising close-quarter decision-making.
- Tip: loot fast, then move. Staying in one place on Livik is a losing strategy.
Nusa — the tropical map
A dense, green map with strong verticality and quick traversal. Fights are frequent and rotations are short.
- Best for: mobile, aggressive squads.
- Tip: the map rewards map knowledge heavily — learn the compound layouts before you push them.
Rondo — the large modern map
The newest large-scale map, with a wider variety of terrain than Erangel and more deliberate pacing. Long rotations and a wide weapon-variety spread.
- Best for: players who like Erangel but want more environment variety.
- Tip: treat it like Erangel for rotations; the extra size means vehicles matter more, not less.
Which map should you queue?
- Climbing ranked? Livik or Sanhok — shorter matches mean more placement attempts per hour.
- Practising aim? Sanhok for close range, Miramar for long.
- Playing seriously with a squad? Erangel or Rondo; both reward coordinated rotations.
- Short session before work? Livik.
Whichever you pick, the settings matter as much as the map. Dial in sensitivity and frame rate first, then practise one map until its compounds are familiar.
