How to Boost FPS in PUBG Mobile (Settings That Actually Matter)

Frame rate wins fights. Most “FPS booster” apps do nothing. These are the settings and habits that genuinely raise and stabilise your frame rate on mid-range phones.

How to Boost FPS in PUBG Mobile (Settings That Actually Matter)

Search for an FPS booster and you will find hundreds of apps. None of them work, because the bottleneck is never a missing app — it is the graphics preset, the frame rate cap, background memory or heat.

Fix those four and a mid-range phone plays smoothly.

1. Set the preset to Smooth, frame rate to High

This is the whole game. Smooth graphics with High or Extreme frame rate gives you the smoothest aiming experience available. A beautiful render at 30 FPS loses every fair fight against an ugly render at 60 FPS, because your screen updates twice as often.

  • Anti-aliasing: off. It costs frames for a softness you will not notice while moving.
  • Shadows: off. The single most expensive setting in the game.
  • Auto-adjust graphics: off. It raises settings mid-match and causes exactly the stutter you are trying to avoid.

2. Cap your frame rate honestly

If your device cannot hold Extreme, forcing it makes things worse — the frame rate oscillates between 60 and 35, and unstable frame pacing feels worse than a steady 40. Drop one level and stay there. Test with the frame rate counter visible for one full match before deciding.

3. Free memory before you drop

On 4 GB devices, background apps are the main cause of frame drops in the final circles. Close everything before you launch. If your phone lets you lock PUBG Mobile in memory, do it — but also disable battery optimisation for the game, otherwise Android will throttle it mid-match.

4. Manage heat

A hot phone throttles, and a throttled phone loses half its frame rate. In practice:

  • Play with the case off if your phone runs hot.
  • Never charge while playing — it is the fastest way to overheat.
  • Avoid direct sunlight; a phone in the sun can lose 20 frames within ten minutes.
  • If you must play long sessions, a small clip-on cooler genuinely works.

5. Storage and updates

Keep at least 2–3 GB of free storage. A nearly full device slows asset streaming, which shows up as hitches when you enter a new area. And keep the game updated — optimisation patches are one of the few real performance improvements KRAFTON ships.

Network, not frame rate

Many players describe network problems as low FPS. If your frames are fine but the game feels unresponsive, you have a latency issue, not a performance one. Use a Wi-Fi connection, avoid routers shared with heavy downloads, and check your ping indicator during a match rather than trusting the lobby display.

What does not work

  • “FPS booster” apps — they cannot change how the game renders.
  • Extreme graphics on a mid-range phone — you get a slideshow with nicer colours.
  • Root tweaks and modified clients — these carry a permanent ban risk.
